Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for that rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Washington
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Washington, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suited to the vehicle category is required, along with proof of current address and valid identification. You will also need to provide payment information and a security deposit, as outlined in the Rental Agreement, which may include additional requirements.
Booking and Payment Details
- Bookings can be made through our website, by phone, or at our Washington location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The full payment and security deposit are generally required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are displayed in US Dollars and include applicable taxes. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowances made for ordinary wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will apply accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or fees accrued during your rental, along with a standard administration fee.
Insurance and Liability in Washington
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. You may find additional insurance options that can lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is acquired. Negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will result in your responsibility for damages, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and modification policies depend on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Charges may apply for late cancellations or no-shows, so it's prudent to review your options before making changes.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Usage of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous activities. Transporting dangerous materials, sub-letting to others, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without proper consent are also violations of our terms.
Violation of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Liability in Washington
To the fullest extent allowed under Washington law, Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business stemming from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental over the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims involving death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Washington State Law
These Terms are governed by Washington state law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Washington courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
